Copper Underwing Moth

This pretty screen-door visitor is showing just a tantalizing flash of the copper-colored lower wings for which it is named.

Copper underwings are common in this area and they have an extensive range of host plants. Included are the apple, oak, raspberry, rhodedendron and walnut foliage growing here.
