Large Lace-Border

While resting in the grass in bright sunlight, this lace-border's markings are very distinctive.

The host plants in our yard which lace-border caterpillars could be enjoying include blueberries, clover, and wild cherries. We spot one or two of these moths each summer.

The coloring of these white "wave"-type moths is said to resemble a washed-out bird dropping when the moths' wings are spread out flat against a broad leaf. Looks too pretty to us.
