Red-headed Inchworm Moth

This common moth's most notable feature is the brightly-colored head.

The larvae feed on pines, and are known as red-headed inchworms, so the caterpillars probably share the distinctive coloring of the adults.

As with several other species of angle moth, the notch in the forewings is not damage to the moth, it's a normal part of the wing design.
