Bidens Borer
The larvae of this little moth bore into the stems of host plants such as ragweed and smartweed, as well as plants of the Bidens genus (part of the aster family) such as beggar-ticks. Since it feasts on plants you'll find along pretty much any roadside or vacant lot, it's common in the area. |
