Hanging from a patio basket, just about finished drying their new wings ~ we had our hands full with this group of siblings that all matured simultaneously.

Most of our monarchs start their lives as eggs laid on the asclepias and milkweeds we cultivate for them in our yard. We go on frequent egg-hunts in the summer, and place the ones we find in roomy containers where the caterpillars can develop without much likelihood of being parasitized, or eaten by a predator.
