The Monarch Watch project is a long-term conservation study that has been run since 1992 by the University of Kansas Entomology department. Every year, thousands of adults and school children from all over North America carefully tag and release the monarchs that visit our areas in the late summer. The tags help track them on their long migration south. Here is our BBH407, showing off her tag and ready to head south for the winter. 6 months from now, someone in Mexico may find her and report her tag number. |
