Appearance
All of the caterpillars shown here are actually the same species: Eastern
black swallowtails. While they are of similar chronological age and have
had the same diet, their developmental rates have been quite different.
Look for black swallowtail
caterpillars eating the leaves of carrots, Queen Anne's lace, dill, curled-leaf
parsley and fennel. Their eggs are small white spheres.
